The mountain hike is an extreme sport in which participants strive to ride a territory of virgin mountain, not trail, only with the help of a guide. The walk may last about 2 hours but can be extended or shortened at the request of the tourists. During this activity you can observe native vegetation, birds and rivers.

Raising free animals

Consumption of poultry is increasing globally because the chicken is considered white meat which has less fat and brings minor health problems. But many people are concerned about abuses in breeding farms. It has been published videos of terrible practices and abused animals. In Rancho Ibelia we seek to minimize the abuse of animals, so we breed poultry with total freedom.

Visitors can observe how the chickens run free throughout the property, healthily feed with grass and insects, they reproduce, play and fight. They are not subjected to any stress, even they have chosen the tree in which they sleep.

The only benefit is egg collecting and of course the happiness to see a free animal.

Fauna watching

Rancho Ibelia also has a high diversity of birds. Approximately 100 species can be commonly seen in surrounding areas. All visitors will have the opportunity to observe wild and domestic animals, such as:

Toucans

Woodpecker

Centipedes

Leafmantis

Guatuso

Chickens

Welcome

Hello my name is Natalia Espinoza, I 'm a fan of nature and together with my dad we have built a ranch that produces palmito and different fruits with a environmentally responsible thought. This blog aims to guide you through the many facets of this project named Rancho Ibelia so enthusiasts can experience the life in the Ecuadorian rainforest.

The ranch is located next to the road "Calacalí - La Independencia" to only 2 hours from Quito. It's openned to visitors and it was named in honor to my granma Ibelia.

Throughout this blog I will publish the activities that can be carried out as part of the visit to the farm.
